This project is made possible in part with funds from the NYS Housing Trust Fund Corporation with a Rural Area Revitalization Program grant received in 2009, and funding received from the NYS Office of Community Renewal NY Main Street grant program.
Project - turn this 1970 barber shop into a green energy efficient building to house offices of PB Inc and Resource Center to continue providing programs aimed at Main St revitalization, affordable housing solutions, small business programs, and community arts. Philmont Beautification, Inc. is a grass-roots not-for-profit community organization committed to serving charitable programs aimed at revitalization and community enhancement.

Stabalizing the building
Installation of LVLs on both the East and West facades to stabilize the building while new block and framing was installed to raise the building by 12 inches.

Sam Wright
Sam Wright, principle of Hemlock Hollow Farm / General Contractor, assisted Sally Baker, Executive Director of PB Inc. with the design of the building, consulted on the engineering issues involved with substantial rain water run off experienced from surrounding higher elevations, attended the many meetings required with the Building Department and Village of Philmont for permits, and assembled the local crew to execute the project. Thank you Sam!

Masonary - New Block
Both the East and West walls required new block to be laid up and the removal of decayed framing and plywood due to rain water run off.

Radiant Tubing
Heat supply - radiant heat/cool tubing installed by Green Earth Geothermal located in Schodack Landing, NY supplied by two geothermal wells drilled in July 2009. Philmont's rock is the best(!)for geothermal installations! Thank you Andy Aubin, principle of Green Earth Geothermal!

New Main St. storefront
Josh Sonner of May Hill Timber Frames installing the new framing for the facades and rafters. Roof receives a new pitch and gable end overhang to protect the new Main St. shopfront when it rains. Thank you Josh, Caspar, and Todd!
