Philmont Farmers Market

Philmont Farmers Market opened Sunday June 5th to a steady stream of market shoppers.
The big hit of the day were the freshly baked Apple Dumplings made by Delsia Hilton who is baking for the market this year.  Customers appreciated the free cup of Strongtree Coffee with their purchase of baked goods, and the new market stand featuring a $2 raffle to win a grab bag of fresh market veggies.  Mary Ellen Madison the winner this Sunday was all smiles at the 12noon raffle drawing for the bag of vegetables including a healthy lb bag of spring greens from New Leaf Farm, a bunch of organic beet greens from Et. Cetera Farm, and superb red spring radishes.   Market Manager, Sebastian McCabe said the grab bag will increase in size as the raffle grows and can support the new program.  The raffle is sponsored by the Philmont Farmers Market aimed at supporting free educational workshops for later in the season to be organized by Gianni Ortiz FarmAssist  Productions.

The market runs from June 5th to October 16th from 10am -1PM EVERY SUNDAY  featuring over 10 vendors, including, White Oak Farm with sugar free jams, bread, and fresh produce, Et. Cetera Farm with eggs and organic produce;  Double Decker Farm with potted plants, cut flowers and produce;  New Leaf Farm with starters and produce;  Common Hands Farm Project with produce; Hans Schober Farm with Red Devon beef cuts and hamburger;  Pampered Cow Creamery with cheeses from NY Upstate farms, including Mapledale Farm, Twin Maple Farm, Nettle Meadow Farm;   Delsia Hilton baking for the market including fresh Apple Dumplings, Market Donuts, Banana Chocolate Quick Bread, and cookies;  Strongtree Organic Coffee Roasters with a special blend made for the Philmont Farmers Market;  Asia Luna with green health & beauty products; Studio 55 with African market baskets; Hillabby Mill with birdhouses;  and Furse Photos with postcards, jigsaws, and handmade pottery from Triform Camphill.

This is a fun and friendly market - one to watch and visit over the market season.  Always introducing fun and new ideas for a farmers market located in the heart of the village of Philmont downtown on the Main St. it has become the favorite market to drop by after having brunch at Local 111,  The Main St. Public House, or the newly opened Vanderbilt House.  Philmont, located at the center of Columbia County is fast becoming the heart of the county; the Philmont Farmers Market is definitely a village market experience.
