Help create the Philmont community garden

A plot to thicken community.                                                                                                             Please join gardeners Karin Heide & Peter Buckbee next Wednesday and Thursday – August 10th & 11th from 2pm to 6pm to help launch and volunteer your gardening or hauling skills to create the Philmont Community Garden located at the top of the beautiful stairway leading up to the garden from the Philmont Pocket Park – corner of Summit St  & Main St across from Key Bank.

Karin and Peter's plan is to create a sustainable culinary herb & rose tea garden!  A place to share gardening, learn about growing culinary herbs & rose hip teas, hold a workshop, or simply have a quiet lunch break with a wonderful elevated view of the Catskills from the garden looking westward down the Main St.  up these beautiful stairs made by stonemason Ben Hart

This is a land reclamation project, turning a disused back lot into a beautiful garden on the Main St to be used for community gardening, workshops, selling harvests at the Philmont Farmers Market, and possibly supplying local Philmont farm-to-table restaurants with fresh culinary herbs and garden grown rose hip teas to order.  (you never know!)

The naming of the garden will take place through community suggestions.   Please let us know in reply what your name suggestion would be.     Names suggested already received are:

Philmont Herbal Tea Garden                      Philmont Community Garden and Apothecary

RSVP if you would like to join the volunteer team next week to help launch & create this new garden! – all levels of skills very welcome!  info@pbinc.org, or reply to this Listserve, or call 518 697 0038 which will find us at the 113 Main PB Inc building.

Happy gardening,
